尼罗蓝A是一种用于生物学和组织学的染色剂。它可以与活细胞或固定细胞一起使用,并赋予细胞核蓝色。它被用于DNA电泳的各种商业DNA染色配方中。由于它不需要像琼脂糖凝胶和x化乙锭和其他荧光染料(如SYBR Green或Gel Red)那样在琼脂糖凝胶中进行可视化的紫外线透射,因此它可以用于观察DNA的分离情况,也可以用作染料以辅助凝胶-提取DNA片段而不会受到紫外线照射的损害。尼罗蓝A的衍生物在恶性肿瘤的光动力治疗中是潜在的光敏剂
